If you’ve been around here for a while you know that one of my PASSIONS is vehicles. Fast ones, shiny ones, technologically advanced ones but this one surprised me almost more than any other with all of its awesome. The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander is fun combined with performance topped with an amazing amount of musicality. Surprised, yet?!
Under the hood it has a 2.0L Mivec I-4 and since its been a while since I drove a four cylinder, I was pleasantly impressed by its peppiness. It is definitely did not your average small car. It has paddle shifters for someone like me that likes to be in control on the road while using CVT Sportronic mode. It boasts 18″ aluminum alloy rims and an AWD mode; this baby is ready to hit the road in any kind of weather.
It’s gauges are simple but elegant, giving me exactly the information I need and more. It has a color LCD informational display that includes trip computer, maintenance reminder, ambient temperature and audio system information in between the gauges for your data viewing pleasure. Did I mention the push button start?!
The Outlander model that we were lucky enough to test drive had a 710-watt, Rockford Fosgate audio system with 9 speakers, one of which was 10-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer with Punch control. I can’t tell you how much I loved that subwoofer. It was AMAZING for a bass-addict like me. Additionally it has an in-dash 6-disc CD and MP3 compatible changer and the speed-compensated volume was a great feature! With Sirius satellite radio and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls we felt like the ultimate D.J.s.
To top off the technology goodness, there’s a 40GB HDD Navigation System with rearview camera, music server and real-time traffic info too!! I miss that car SO MUCH right now!!!
The Outlander has seating for 5 and a 60/40 rear seat that adjusts for different cargo situations. This model had premium fabric trimmed seats and 3 rear seat adjustable head restraints. Nice, right?!
Did I mention how much I LOVE this sub??!!!
Even with that giant sub, the cargo area is cavernous. Whether you need a trip to the grocery store or are taking a trip with the kids, you’re sure to have plenty of space!
Peace of mind comes standard with your New Mitsubishi, with a 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty; a 5-year/60,000-mile, fully transferable, New Vehicle Limited Warranty; a 7-year/100,000-mile Anti-Corrosion/Perforation Limited Warranty and 5 years/unlimited miles of Roadside Assistance. How awesome is that?!
The Outlander is a small car that is BIG on safety. It has advanced front airbags with seat belt-use, passenger-weight and driver’s seat-position sensors, front side-impact airbags and side-impact air curtains with rollover protection and a driver knee airbag to protect the passengers in an impact. When it comes to protecting its youngest passengers, it features LATCH child safety seat anchors & upper tethers and child-safety rear door locks. There’s also anti-lock brakes, traction control and so much more!!
Good thing that the Outlander has attractive tail lights, because I would always be out if this was my vehicle! Everybody would be saying, “there goes Michelle again, that Outlander must be amazing to drive, all I ever see is her tail lights.” True story.
Disclosure: Mitsubishi gave me the privilege of test driving this Outlander for a week. They did not pay me for this post.
